WALKING IN MEMPHIS

Music has always been inspirational to me, and as I wrote COnVENt, a playlist of emotions emerged into words that landed in ink. I wanted to share the reason I chose each song and take you on the journey.

Chapter 1 begins with Mac in Memphis where unexpected events launch her into a spiritual awakening. The birth of her son is the first step in her transformation from maiden to mother. Both a physical and spiritual transformation, moving from self-discovery to compassionate creator. COnVENt - Inception is the starting point of both Mac and Camille's journey, as well as the beginnings of community in New Orleans, the Crescent City.

FUN FACT I actually did go into labor while in Memphis on a work trip. Chapter 1 is my birth story for my first born, Lloyd. But the song is much deeper than it seems. Marc Cohn, the singer/songwriter wrote “Walking in Memphis” as an autobiographical account of a trip he took to Memphis, TN to overcome writers block. Cohn said, "the song is about more than just a place; it's about a kind of spiritual awakening, one of those trips where you're different when you leave."
